About Us

Avondale Foods is an established family owned and operated business, which specialises in the supply of ingredients to the bakery, food service, jams, sauces and preserves trades. From small family owned & operated bakeries to larger internationally recognised brands, as well as smaller boutique jam and sauces to larger preserve companies, a lot of these products go into brands that are both well renowned and enjoyed by families all over Australia and the world. Avondale offers a high standard of both service and quality to all its valued customers no matter how large or small.

Established in 1995 by third generation orchardist Colin Pascoe, Avondale Foods has expanded from a small manufacturing facility on the farm, to a substantial company operating out of a world class facility. While Avondale’s facility is still on the orchard, it has expanded a considerable amount over the years, and now supplies products all over Australia, and is now broadening into import and export. Although Avondale has expanded considerably over the years, we are still very much family owned and operated, with Colin’s sons Ben and Tim now carrying the business forward and the fifth generation now entering the workforce. With the Pascoe Family producing fruit in the productive highlands of the Towac Valley for over 100 years, we are continuing this family tradition and still grow fruit solely for products that are highly valued by bakers and chefs far and wide.

Avondale Orchards

Avondale Orchards is the Apple growing arm of the Avondale Foods Group.

Avondale Orchards has been in the (Pascoe or our) family for 5 generations and is used exclusively to grow apples for Avondale Foods to process.

The orchard consists of approximately 40ha of apples on the foothills of Mt Canobolas, in what is a renowned area for apple production.

We also lease several orchards in the region to give us flexibility of supply.

Apples are harvested and kept in cold storage for use throughout the year.

Avondale focuses on varieties which are suited to processing and have a good storage ability to allow us to have apple available to process at all times of the year.

History

For the last five generations and over 100 years, the Pascoe family has farmed the land in the Canobolas district, south west of Orange, NSW.

In the early days, the orchard supplied fresh fruit and vegetable wholesalers and the downgraded fruit was sent away to juice factories or thrown away. In 1995 Avondale Foods was established which helped stabilise the orchard business, by using all downgraded fruit for its processing.

Today, at Avondale, our factory still operates on the orchard premises, surrounded by the orchard.

Varieties we grow

Royal Gala

Granny Smith

Pink Lady

Region

The Canobolas/Orange district has long been renowned for its advantageous apple growing conditions and has been producing apples for over 175 years. Growing on the slopes of extinct volcano Mt Canobolas, in cool temperatures with a long slow ripening period and plentiful natural rainfall, apples produced by growers in the district are full of flavour and deep in colour.

At Avondale foods, we are enthusiastic in supporting the local economy, and particularly mindful of the need to promote and maintain the local orchard industry. We work closely with many other growers in the district to supply us with quality fruit to manufacture our products.

Our Team

At Avondale Foods we are committed to providing a workplace that is all inclusive and celebrates each team members success.
